Power the Community.

ChiTownBio is 100% volunteer-driven. We need your diverse talents—scientific, creative, or organizational—to keep our mission alive.

No Lab Coat? No Problem.

A common misconception is that you need to be a biologist to help at a biotech lab. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

While we love our scientists, our long-term success relies on a diverse community. Whether you are a graphic designer, a grant writer, a student, or just a neighbor who wants to lend a hand, there is a critical role waiting for you here.

1. Events & Education

Be the face of the lab and help us deliver seamless experiences.

  • Event Assistance: Help with set-up and tear-down for our social nights, and act as our photographer to capture the moments.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Assist instructors, manage attendee sign-ins, and ensure our students have what they need to learn.

2. Lab Operations

Keep the facility safe, clean, and ready for discovery.

  • Lab Maintenance: Assist with general cleaning, organizing supplies, and inventory management. This is the heartbeat of the physical space.

3. Outreach & Growth

Help us expand our reach and secure our future.

  • Marketing & Design: Design posters, distribute promotional materials, and help manage our social media campaigns to tell the ChiTownBio story.
  • Community Outreach: Engage with our neighbors in Rogers Park and the wider City of Chicago through programs drafted by the Board.
  • Fundraising: Special Call: We are specifically seeking individuals with grant writing experience to help secure financial support for our non-profit mission.
