Chicago's Community Biology Lab

The future is now!

Hello everyone. It’s been a while since we last talked, and I feel like I owe you an update.

My name is Andy Scarpelli, and I’m the president of ChiTownBio. In the time since the last time I updated this site, we’ve been experiencing the tumult of the pandemic and some financial woes, but we have a plan moving forward.

Since my last update, we’ve had a number of amazing events, including partnering with the Chicago Parks District’s Night Out in the Park program for a few sessions, and we’re going to continue that partnership this summer with two events at the North Park Village Nature Center and Loyola Beach. We’ve also had some online events, and we’re continuing to plan those as well as shifting back to in person events. Please check out our Meetup for updates coming very, very soon.

We wanted to craft a more meaningful plan moving forward, so we partnered with 180 Degrees Consulting to figure out how to make sure the lab comes to fruition in the near future. We’re not quite ready to share all of what they told us, but internally, we’re dissecting their findings and really trying to find a way to actuate their recommendations.

We’re on the cusp of a lot of big announcements, and we are excited about what’s ahead in the coming year. Please check back with us often, as we’re hoping to be breaking a lot of big news in the coming months.

As always, please feel free to get in touch! If you’re in the Chicagoland area and want to join our online conversation, please contact us at chitownbio@gmail.org to gain access to our Slack or to ask us any questions.
