Chicago's Community Biology Lab

Building Momentum: Let’s make things happen!

Hi all,

As the fall is quickly approaching (It’s after Labor Day already!), I feel the need to update you on the progress we’ve been making on all fronts. We have a few events to keep an eye on, I’ll be speaking about ChiTownBio at an AIGA event you should attend next week, and will hopefully be announcing our October meetup very, very soon (Keep an eye on our social media and our Meetup page).

We’re moving forward in cementing our permanent location in Rogers Park very soon. We’re looking to settle into the Howard Corridor; the location would be a great link between the biotech growing in the Northern Suburbs, a location to cement a meaningful connection with a diverse community, easy access to learning institutions like Northwestern, the City Colleges of Chicago, and Loyola, easy access via the Red Line to all Chicagoans, and, importantly, affordable rent. We’ll be updating as soon as we know more, but we’re looking to colocalize with the Chicago Neon Coop. Maker Spaces need to come together!

Things are stirring constantly on our Slack, and to take part in our lively and growing online community, please write us at chitownbio@gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you and for you to contribute to our community!

Thank you to everyone who has come out to our recent events and those of you whoa have contributed some money to our donate page. We’re still scrambling to accumulate enough funds to make our lab a reality.

More updates to come shortly! Thank you all for your continued support! We’re trying our best to make our dream of a public biolab possible here in the city of Chicago!
