2024 In Review

Dear ChiTownBiologists,

The holiday season is here, and as we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for an incredible year of growth, community, and progress. Thanks to your patience, curiosity, and support, we’re on the brink of officially opening our doors!

This Year In Review

✨ Expanding Community Connections

Our Biotech Fermenter series, in partnership with Chientist, continued to flourish, creating a vibrant hub for Chicago’s biotech professionals to network, collaborate, and share ideas.

✨ Creative and Innovative Workshops

This year, we introduced hands-on workshops to spark creativity and exploration:

  • 🎨 Painting with Bacteria: Participants created living art, exploring the beauty of microbial diversity and the intersection of art and science.

  • 🌱 Biomaterials Workshop: Attendees experimented with bioplastics and algae-based materials, imagining sustainable solutions to combat plastic pollution.

✨ Securing Our New Home
We signed the lease for our very own lab space at 6634 N. Clark St. in Rogers Park! Setup is in full swing as we transform a typical storefront into a cutting-edge molecular biology lab.

✨ Hosting Events Across Chicago

From the South Loop to Fulton Market, Edgewater, Rogers Park, and Sauganash, we hosted workshops and events to inspire innovation and grow the ChiTownBio community.

What’s Next For 2025

🔬 Upcoming Events

Mark your calendars! Our next Biotech Fermenter will be held at 1871 in the iconic Merchandise Mart. Stay tuned for the full 2025 event calendar, coming soon.

To make it easier for everyone to connect, we’ve transitioned from Slack to Discord. Join us for lively discussions, updates on events, and an opportunity to engage with our growing community.
